Not sure where to post this.

Long story but we set a trap and caught 2 young men burglaring flat. Caught on CCTV that we set up.

Just out of interest does anyone know what the chances of them being sent to prison are?

No, but well done!!!!

doinmummy · 22/05/2012 23:42

Thankyou.

Money was starting to go missing. We had suspicions so set a trap.

I was amazed that we caught them.

Well done, hope they get more than a slap on wrist, thieving scum. We got burgled night before ds birthday and they took all his presents and emptied moneyboxes.

They never got caught.

The camera was inside the flat so we didn't need signs.

Sad thing is that one of the burglars was a friend

If they are convicted prison is quite likely. If they have previous for residential burglary it is pretty much a certainty.

What did the police say?

Collaborate · 23/05/2012 07:52

It is entirely lawful:

If we needed a burglar's permission to film them in the act my name is Elvis Presley.

LOL at Collaborate who is of course, as usual, right Grin

doinmummy · 23/05/2012 18:15

The police say we are within our rights to film inside property.

They found money on one of them and have taken finger prints etc.

We are doing an identity parade soon.

i really hope they get put away. So awful that it was a friend.

The police aren't always right.

doinmummy · 29/05/2012 22:31

I think that if there's a chance of filming people just going about their business
eg postmen/milkmen/general public etc then you must let them know they will be filmed. If it's inside then you can set up a whole production unit if you want.

SherlockGnomes · 29/05/2012 22:34

Did you actually physically trap them ??

doinmummy · 29/05/2012 22:35

No we did not physically hold them. But did catch them red handed coming out of the property.

The sentence will depend upon a number of variables including whether the burglary was at nighttime (and therefore the house was likely to be occupied) and the perpetrators' form.

They knew the house would be empty because they had dropped the owner at the pub and were scheduled to pick them up at closing time.

doinmummy · 29/05/2012 22:39
