PR and the ex

My ex has parental responsibility for our 2 children, they want it to be removed as my son (16) hasn't seen him for almost 2 years and there is a no contact order in place for my daughter (15). What do we do to remove his PR?"

I'm sorry but the courts will rarely, if ever, revoke PR.

At 16 the only thing PR gives you is the right to consent to marriage. Why would you bother????

petalpie · 12/05/2012 08:12

Thanks for the advice. I'd bother because he's complaining about medical care my DD received and wants access to her medical records which she's refusing to give, he's a bit of a loose cannon and is trying to stir up all kinds of trouble now. We'll just have to wait until she's 16, only six months to go.

Unless there are exceptional circumstances at 15 your daughter will be deemed mature enough to refuse consent. Over 16s alone are entitled to access of their own medical records.

Agree with STIDW.

I did think he could get access to her medical records as he has PR and she is only 15, is this not right? I was surprised when the letter came from the hospital asking for her consent.

Someone with PR may apply for access to medical records for a child under 16 but information shouldn't be disclosed if the child is mature enough and capable of understanding the implications of their decision. Goggle "Gillick Competent. "

STIDW · 12/05/2012 12:54

Sorry missed "not to disclose" after "decision" Blush

Thanks for the info, very grateful.
