Child moving away advice please

Hi all

I'm after some advice if anyone can help at all please?

I'm supporting a male friend of mine who's wife has left him, they have a reasonably amicable split (it occured in Nov last year) apart from money.

My friends and his wife lived in London, but they moved 2.5 hours away around a year ago because of my friends job, now they have split they both work full time and my friend pays more than the CSA guidelines to his ex because he feels it's fair, however she has repeatedly said she can't afford to live and he has recently increased it to even more, they are now discussing when the payments can reduce (he fairly thinks that once childcare is halved he should be able to pay less - but still more than CSA), she has said whilst she is ok for money she will stay in the area, but as she's struggling and he's thinking of reducing payment she will have no option but to take the offer of moving back in with her grandparents in London and taking his daughter, obviously if she can afford to stay she'd prefer to.

It feels like blackmail to me, but the main concern is, can she just move? or would he get much success with a prohibited steps order to stop her moving away.

He currently has his daughter two nights in the week (and takes her to school) and one at the weekend?

Sorry if there is TMI but I didn't want to dripfeed.

Thanks

This sounds like the financial arrangements and the child care arrangements are intertwined. Both of them need to seek legal advice. Refer your friend to the Resolution website for lawyers in his area. He should also look at the information there for Collaborative Law.
