I have posted here in the past (nickname changed as life has got much better now Smile) and the help I got here in the past was amazing so I thought you may be able to help me again Grin.

I have finally received the documents to transfer my part of the equity (house) to my ExP as part of the separation settlement. My solicitors have sent me a letter saying that I need to sign a Statutory Declaration as well in the presence of an independent solicitor and there will be a charge to do this.

The thing is that I was living up in the north of England (where my solicitor is) and now after many months of financial struggle I have found a job and have moved to the south (Hampshire). So my question is can anyone help me to find a solicitor that will sign this document please? I really need to sign this document as soon as possible as for the last year I have got into a big debt (with friends and family that have been helping us to be able to eat and pay for the rent) so the money is a big relief even though it is not the full amount that I am legally entitled to from the property (long story).

Thanks in advance

babybarrister yes, I was mumoverseas for about 3 years but moved back to the UK permanently in the summer and didn't want to be 'done' for misprepresentation so thought I ought to name change. Wink
Had a few different names for a while including mumofsoontobelawstudent when DS thankfully got the AAA he needed to read law at Exeter. Wanted to be MOS but MN wouldn't let me as apparently there is already one Hmm

Right, I've decided, I'm going on strike for a week, sod em. Jeremy Kyle is on weekdays at 9.25am, let them get their advice there

See you guys in a week or so. Please behave in my absence x

BabyB - I've been avoiding the SA thread as it's far too long!

The MNHQ response reminds me of a certain poster around a year a go who had a bee in his bonnet about social services. I was forced to change my name from a noun to a verb!

I really think that if MN want this forum to be one where no legal advice is given, they should make it clear that none is to be asked for. I've seen some horrendous advice given in the past that could do enormous damage to families, and part of the reason I post on here is to redress that.

I know that BabyB and mumblechum are lawyers, and can guess frim the tone of their posts that many others are lawyers too. as BabyB says, we just want to cut to the chase and have no time for moralising. I agree that should be left for AIBU.

Have to say, I totally agree with you Collaborate. I think I recall what you are referring too last year and think he is around still but has name changed.
