You might want to try the Salvation Army:

I'm sorry for you, your mum and his daughter - it must be a huge worry to you all.

There are ways of tracing people if court is involved- can trace through DWP by national insurance number, for example, if a court was going to be asked to make an order or if someone wanted to get divorced. But this won't apply if you just want to know how he's getting on.

you can search the register of deaths (Sad)

presumably you've tried facebook, friends reunited, etc

you could try a private detective?

iheartdusty · 24/01/2012 21:49

I meant to say - the legal convention is that you would have to wait 7 years with no sign or trace of him for a presumption of death to be applied.

thank you

my mum and my niece have taled to missing peoples help line but nothing .

they have contacted salvation army but not trace of him either

so its making them think ,he is either in prison sectioned under mental health act somewhere or dead .Any of them being a strong contender

Surely missing persons has the power/right to check prison records, insurance numbers (for hospitalisations) and the like.

It is a terrible wound not knowing, wondering where they are etc.

We had family friends go through this, and even though the declaration of him having died was incredibly sad, it also brought closure. They allowed themselves to know he was actually dead, not "out there".
