Electric shock from vacum cleaner

Hi.

I was wondering if anyone could advise me?

I received a moderate electric shock from my vacuum ( only 7 months old and reputable brand beginning with D) the thing cost over £200!

Anyway, 11 month old DD was close by, this upsets me more than getting the shock as if she had been shocked I'm not sure what would have happened.

Shock was enough to leave a mark on my arm and cause me pain for the rest of the day i also had to have an ECG as had palpitations after. It was all really upsetting.

I have phoned the company and they are sending someone round on Thurs to look at it. I also now have no vacuum which is not good as dd crawling and puts everything in her mouth. I am now spending considerable amount on time on hands and knees with a bloody dustpan and brush.

What should i expect from them?
TIA

What are you after? compensation?

You should expect them to service the machine and check that it is safe. if there is any doubt, you should expect them to replace it or refund your money.

No more, no less.

Thankyou.

Dont really want to go down the compensation route as didnt suffer perminant injury. They have been good on the phone and the lady i spoke to showed genuine concern.

I do want them to make sure it doesnt happen again. It was not a nice experiance.

A bunch of flowers and a new vacuum would be nice Grin

I'd say they're doing all you can expect of them at the moment.
