One of our Will witnesses has spelt their name wrong! Does that invalidate it?

Our Wills have been done for a few years now but I've just noticed that one of our witnesses spelt her name wrong when she 'printed' it. She's one of these people who uses her middle name so very rarely has to write her 'real' first name

Does it matter?

Wouldn't have thought so.

Thank you, I'm really hoping not

I wouldn't have thought it would matter either because of course it doesn't change the contents of it but I want to make sure

If it's worrying you I suggest you get a letter from her explaining the error and keep it (signed and dated) with the original will, in case there's ever a query.

That's a very good idea mumblechum1, I will do that. Thank you Smile

Are you sure its spelt wrong and not just a different way of spelling it?

I only ask because my DH has an unusual spelling of a name which most people wouldn't have though you could spell any differently and are always correcting it for him and politely we tell them they are if fact wrong. [Think along the lines of Thomas, James, David etc]
