Location clause in employment contract

I'm not sure if I should put this here or in employment, but here goes.

I've just been offered a great job. I'm not very happy in my current job and I've been searching for a while, since my industry is quite specialised.

When I applied, I was told the position could be done from Central London or Kent, however at the final interview, they said I would have to work from Kent for the first three months. I live in SW London and the commute is 1.5 hours each way and worse, costs £451 per month!

Because I want this job so much, and I am unlikely to get a similiar opportunity elsewhere, I have agreed to take the initial hit on the understanding that I will be transferred to the London office after three months. They agreed, but the location and time period is not written into my contract.

Would it be unusual/ unreasonable to ask them for this? If they say no, what should I do? I have had a long think about it, and the absolute longest I would do the commute for is six months, but obviously, the less time the better.

I would get it in writing. Is the Kent location in your contract?
