What happens if someone is evicted from a housing association property?

We have housing association tenants next door to us who cause endless nuisance. We have been dealing with the association to try to resolve things. We just found out thT the tenants have been served with a notice of possession so could be evicted.

I am curious what would happen if they were. Would they be rejoiced elsewhere? I am just wondering how much of a deterrent this notice will be.

they would probably have to find another landlord and if they need references from their current landlord then they could have difficulty.

However, they could always put down references from their friends on the next one and it depends on the new landlord and how thorough they are in checking all of the details.

hope your next ones are better.

The landlord is a housing association. Would the HA rehouse them? Would they be entitled to council housing or would they just have to find a private landlord?

I think they would have to find a private landlord, though other housing associations might not be too choosy.

They might be deemed as making themselves intentionally homeless by not complying with tenancy rules, so council may not be an option.

Depends if children are involved also, I think.

They have two young children.

IlanaK, in my experience it's very hard to evict housing association tenants. It's a very long drawn out process and the law is usually on their side.

We've had a nightmare with ours. Kept a log of over 60 incidents over 3 years. Violence, alcohol/drug fuelled fights, damage to their property, antisocial behaviour, regularly disturbed nights, police have been involved, enviromental dept, other neighbours complaining and also supporting our complaints, etc.

In our borough, the enviro people can only record 'acoustic' noise (ie. tv, stereo radio, musical instruments) not shouting/screaming. This service is available only on fri, sat, sun night after midnight. They are unable to monitor noise levels at any other time. Very helpful.

The housing association took the tenants to court but the judge considered their 'circumstances' and gave the tenants a final warning.Shock To this day, they still live next door to us.

Good luck.
