I am seeking legal advice obviously but have had a shitty letter land on the mat this morning which has really upset me.
Background is when I was young and naive and backpacking, met an Australian we had a baby (he begged me to abort her). When she was born I contacted him to let him know and invite him to see her, he demanded DNA testing, which I paid for.

I simply had no money to afford to stay in Australia with a newborn so came home. Once back in the UK we set up a private arrangement that he would pay £50 a week into an account for her.
I even offered to pay for him to come and visit the UK to see her, he declined and has not sent so much as a Christmas card since.
Fast forward 10 years I receive a letter out of the blue from the Australian CSA telling me he now earns over £200,000 a year and would I like them to review the maintenance payments, well yes I would.
His letter today basically tells me he will fight the decision in court and if we end up in court he will seek custody of a child he has never laid eyes on.
Now I am actually a bit happy about that because she wants to see him, I want her to see him but he only wants to see her if it's going to cost him more than £200 a month ??
How on earth can it work under those circumstances.
All experiences/thoughts very welcome :)

His chances of getting custody of a 10 year old girl he has never even seen are nil. He is just trying to frighten you into backing down.

He's bluffing. Take him to court if necessary

Thank you BB, with regards to changing the maintenance situation I have been told to get a court order in the UK and send it over to the CSA in Australia and they will enforce it.
The solicitor I spoke to yesterday tells me there is no such court order I can apply for is that correct ?
The CSA in the UK suggests I need to apply to the local court too, you wouldn't happen to know what that court order is called would you ?
Thank you

Ah sorry for the misinformation, no there is an agreement between the two of us but it's not a court order.
I think I found the form, I'm going to take it to the local court on Monday and see what they say.
Thanks again, I just need the confidence to fight the bugger !
