If something has not yet gone to court is it safe to discuss on this forum?

I said something on Facebook and the police where on to me within a day or two.

I'm a victim/witness rather than a perpetrator.

I think they can trace you easily, what do you think?

Well in theory, a mumsnetter could be on the jury so I guess police would not want you to post about it here, tbh.

If there has been a charge, and you post identifying details, it could be prejudicial.

Appletrees · 27/08/2010 23:33

I mean there are certain detailsa that can be said: names, the charge, the court date etc. You can't say much more than that. If you ate a victim keep quit till court: or the accused's lawyers could claim they won't get a fair trial.

Appletrees · 27/08/2010 23:34

Quiet not quit.

It is in your best interests to keep schtum until the trial.

doozle · 27/08/2010 23:37

You can end up in court yourself if you deliberately discuss a case that's pending a trial.

OK thanks - that's what I thought. Just wondered if I could talk "anonymously" on mumsnet - but I think better not to. Would be embarrassing to get pulled up on it in court.

Thanks all.
