DPA requests - how do you ensure they are complete

So, you write to the DP officer for the orgnaisation, stating that you want copies of all communication, including deleted emails, which contains your name or refers to you.

How do you know they have given you everything? What is to stop them witholding the really juicy stuff that would cause them a problem?

How can they possibly send you "deleted" e-mails?

I think that when you delete information from your computer the information is never truly gone. For example, the police can analyse the hard disks and find 'ghosts' of the original files if you delete them.

On another thread (my DH is being taken to disciplinary) it was suggested that he submit a DPA request, to include all 'deleted' emails.

Where I work all emails are saved on a back up server or something even if they are deleted from the user's account so deleted emails can quite easily for recovered if needed for FOI requests for example.

I have no idea how you could ever know they have given you all the information and not withheld anything but the penalties for doing that presumably make it unlikely that any reputable company or organisation would withhold anything.

However, Local Authorities sometimes think that they are "Above the Law" and "stonewall" genuine complaints against social workers or teachers.
