Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Mumma here of 10. I also have an angel baby so guess that really makes me a mumma of 11. Last 4 kids were via ivf, currently been trying for one last baby for nearly 2yrs. Im doing my last egg retrieval next week and really hoping we get atleast some embryos to transfer. We had a chemical pregnancy in november of 2024 and a mc around april ish at 7 weeks and nothing since. Im also 41 and right in the middle of perimenopaus. Im praying we have one more but have decided we have been at it nearly 2yrs and if it hasnt happened now then it may not be meant to be.

May I ask what job your husband does to afford all the IVF and children?

JojoButBetter · 31/07/2026 10:31

@Miraclemuma03 how old are you, if you don't mind sharing?

Sweetdreamsbeautifulnightmare · 31/07/2026 10:33

Wow what?! I have one and he’s enough!

If you have space and cannot afford it then why not!

bit sexist eh?

Lexy2345 · 31/07/2026 10:38

As long as you have the time, energy and most importantly, a good enough income to support a lot of children, then go for it. I had four, and I couldn't have coped with any more, let alone afford any more. What sort of cars do you drive and what are is the age range of the children?

Just curious, not sexist to think he works and she looks after the children. Or they may have a massive wealth of their own. Just wondering!

lol no! I’d be astonished if someone with 10 children has the time to work so don’t think they are wrong to assume the husband is funding the ivf…

Was this a question for me? My husband operates machinery and is a pipe layer.

I was working until I had my 9th child, my husband asked for another child and my stimpulations were that I become a stay at home mum because I raised all my children as a working mum plus studying. He was 100% on board.

Wow supermamas here on this thread! I've just had my 4th at 36. I wish I'd started having children sooner so I could've had more but this is us done now.

if you want an 8th, have the space and energy and love and resources.... go for it! Xxx

Thepossibility · 01/08/2026 03:56

I don't know how you do it! I only have three and I feel guilty at that because I feel I can't give them enough individual attention. And the extracurriculars, how does that all work? While helping so many with homework, reading etc?
I'd need another parent or two to make that work!
My SIL has more than 10, she only really likes the baby stage when they are tiny, then they are pretty much on their own.

incognito1991 · 01/08/2026 07:06

I think it depends if you can afford more and if you also are able to have the time for more, I come from a big family, 7 all together. My parents couldn’t really afford, we weren’t poor we enjoyed holidays and days out, gifts etc but necessities like clothes weren’t really bought regularly, although my mother has never seen the point, if it fits who cares is what she goes by. I was the oldest and remember many times the younger 4 would get treats etc and the older ones nothing because she couldn’t afford for everyone so would say oh well your older you can understand where they can’t, I don’t think that’s fair

Gardenisablooming · 01/08/2026 07:10

11 here.. mostly adults now. The practical work is nearly over....the emotional support and navigating relationships is still a 24/7 job.

Not much time for myself still.

Its definitely alot of work giving everyone their needs but we devide the time, we do small groups, one on one special moments. We do girl trips with the girls and the boys do boy things. We do family things alot. I have mostly older kids and teens now and they mostly do their own things these days, 2 of my kids moved out and are adults now. The high school kids have free lessons in their school where they do any assessments, alot of them are done in class leading up to exams, and there are after school programs and home work clubs where the teachers help with their work. My primary school child goes to a very small school, they dont get homework and they have half hr before school to do extra work or catch up time so we are lucky in the home work department. We have a 4 and 2 yr old who I spend my days with as everyone else is either at school or work so there really isnt much of me that needs to go around. Everyone gets home at 4 after school and some of the kids are at work after school and I already have dinner on, we chat in the kitchen and sometimes over dinner and then every one goes and does their own thing and settles in to their own space usually to decompress from the day and prepare for a new day. Its much easier now that everyone is older as they are inclined to do their own thing and want to be independent. When everyone was very young we did lots of library sessions, parks, outdoor play, sensory play. Usually at the end of the day I would read each child a book in their bed and talk about their day. If your making an impact on your children's lives by giving quality time even in small portions or in a group setting then thats all that matters. Not one of my older children ever have complained about not having enough one on one time, their memories are the times I made for them whether thats painting with them, reading to them or taking them on a holiday, their memories are of my engaging my time with them, being with them. They have happy memories as children and growing up in stability and a loving environment..
