A 4th????

I have a DS 9 a DD 7 and just just just had a beautiful boy. It could be the hormones, but am I crazy to think about a 4th? I think it would be nice for the baby to have a buddy to grown up with down the line when the other two are older. And I feel like we’ll already get two hotel rooms in holiday and we have a 7 seater car and a 5th bedroom, so why not? If you have a fourth did it balance things out? I’m 40, so while we had zero issues conceiving my third I would probably do IVF to ensure a healthy baby, because I know the older you get the riskier it is. I should also note I’m a SAHM with a housekeeper/nanny, so I really don’t feel stretched thin at all at the moment and financially we could 100% have a fourth without having to cut back on anything. My mom is one of four and so is my dad, I remember growing up and looking at my aunts and uncles at family parties and thinking, I love this I’m so lucky. My husband actually said when we went for #3 “are we doing 3 or 4?” I laughed at the time, but now I’m like what’s one more??? I guess if you grew up in a big family did you like it? Do you love having four kids? Was the jump to four a big deal?

If you’re a sahm with house keeper /nanny the main reason not to is the planet.

I've got 4 and love it. I don't have any bought help. Husband is amazing at pulling his weight though. We both work. We are toying with the idea of a 5th soon DD will be moving out as I had her very young so there will be a age gap but doable.

I don't see any reason for you to not have another only thought would be but most don't see it as an issue now days

Gosh would be age only issue

MumMum17 · 27/07/2024 15:03

@ZombieBoob thats so great!! I actually feel like I have more energy now than I did when I was younger. Maybe I’m used to it, but I rarely crave sleep, even with a newborn!!

IVF can be pretty gruelling, that might be quite a different experience for you all to you falling pregnant naturally three times. It also does not "ensure" a baby.

We have 4 and I prefer the dynamic of it compared to when we had 3. My two eldest are very close so I'm hoping the two youngest will be close too 🥰

I also have three, and would love a fourth, although will probably stick to three. I was intrigued by your saying that you would have IVF to ensure a healthy baby. All my children were conceived via IVF, so I know a lot about it, but I'm sorry I don't understand this. Why would conceiving via IVF be healthier for the baby, unless you had frozen eggs/embryos from when you were much younger, which I presume is not the case as you have had your other three naturally? By all means go for a fourth, but I'd skip the IVF if I were you.

I'm very interested to know this too?

Do you mean that you would have tests done on the unimplanted embrio? I see how that could ensure a healthier child.
