3rd baby

Hello! Yes another post on wether to have a third child!

We have 2 girls at the moment. One is 4 and the other will be 2 in a few weeks time. We always said we wanted 2 children and my DH even booked in to have a vasectomy after dd2 was born. He ended up not going ahead with the appointment as something told us it was too soon.
Recently I've really been considering a third..dh is still on the fence. He has said if we do decide we should wait until next summer to start trying (we have a family holiday booked for april).

So if we were lucky enough to get pregnant quickly the baby would be born around spring 2025. My girls would be 6 and 3. I would be 34 and my Dh would be 38.

Obvious thing that is holding us back is finances. Next year when dd2 starts her funded hours we finally won't have nursery fees and I could increase my hours at work also so we would be about £1000 a month better off - this wouldn't be the case if we had a 3rd..would be another few years of being frugal but it would be manageable.

We have a 4 bedroom house so space isn't a concern.

Anyone else in this position.. same ages and same age gap of children that can give us any pros or cons to help us decide?

Should also add that I had a loss in-between my 2 girls..I was 11 weeks pregnant and it was twins so this is something to really consider. The 3rd baby could well turn out to be 3rd and 4th!

Thanks for reading! X

Pretty much same position.
I have two girls, one is 2, one is 4.
I am 32, husband is 37.
Four bedroom house too.
We always wanted three, but after the second was born we decided to not have another (so I have a coil now). However, over the past 6 months I have been thinking about a third, and how our family doesn't feel complete.
Do you work? Would you be stretched financially?

We also have 2 girls, 3 y/o and nearly 1 y/o but we're a bit older than you. I'm 38 and my husband is 40. For us it's about what our current children would miss out on if we had a 3rd and finances were more stretched. We want to do private school for example and can afford it for 2 but not for 3. I also feel that as we have 2 of the same sex it could destabilise things a bit if the third was a boy but that probably sounds silly and obviously happens all the time! I understand as a woman that feeling of broodiness and ooh maybe one more but you have to consider the children you already have and weigh up the pros and cons I think. Good luck with your decision.

@Ifyouarehappyandyouknowit123 yes I work as a nurse and at the minute I only do 24 hours over 2 12 hour nightshifts. Once dd2 is 3 I was planning on going full time but if we had a 3rd I couldn't do that due to childcare. My husband works full time. We would cope financially but would have another few years of budgeting everything until they were all at school. We took out a 10 year fixed rate on our mortgage in January which I'm glad about now so thats a positive.

@MrsSamR absoulty that is something I have considered. It would be less holidays etc than if we had the two. But then hopefully they would all have fun growing up together and that would outweigh expensive holidays etc. In terms of schooling we wouldn't be able to send any to private school so thats not something I've considered. Also we are in Scotland so luckily university fees are free. I know this is something that could maybe change in the next 18 years though 🤔
