Induction with 3rd.. yes or no?

I’m being offered an induction at 38 weeks. This is my third baby and never had an induction like what they’ve offered.

Basically it will be go in, catheter and epidural put in, waters broken for me with the hook, put on drip.. hope for the best.

Has anyone else had this after having other children vaginally and was it a long labour?

My last two labours

1st induction 27hrs
2nd natural 16hrs

This baby is measuring off the scale big (I’m in agony they’re that big) and I suffer from secondary tokophobia.

Thank you.

Induction @ 39 weeks with dc6 due to measuring big

Went in and was monitored, waters broken, mild contractions for a few hours before ramping up, baby arrived 10 hours after waters broken

Worst bit was continuous montoring

Ah yes I hate being monitored the whole time. Did you get the epidural?

Good to know it took though! How was the waters being broke? Confused not looking forward to that bit!

No epidural. I had gas and air, and a shot of something i cant remember Grin

Waters being broken was fine (i have had this done before anyway)

I was induced with my 3rd as he was 10 days late. He was also huge but that hadn't been picked up. It took almost exactly the same amount of time as DC1 who was spontaneous, a little early and very little. It wasn't great being connected to the monitor the whole time but someone had told me it was really good to go to the loo as often as needed, even if was a faff, which was good to know. And induction meant that I had a midwife with me the whole time which I much preferred to just being quickly checked every hour with my 1st. All in all, it was a much more positive experience than my 1st. DC2 was breech so elcs there which I really really hated.

1st induced early due to high bp, 3 days 7hr 38 from waters breaking. Drip, epidural, fetal distress, vontouse and episiotomy (only 7lb 7oz). 2nd measuring big, wouldn't induce until 42wk. 1cm dilated at 39+6, only 5cm by 40+4. They refused to break waters due to polyhydramnios so admitted and was still 5cm next day. Broke waters after lots if nagging, meconium in waters 2 episiotomy cuts as shoulders got a bit stuck but out with 14mins pushing (10lb 12oz). 3rd nice 2 day labour, 11 mins after waters broken (9lb 10oz). 4/5 twins breech snd transverse so elcs 38wk. 6th was measuring big, offered induction or elcs a week early as she kept going higher up growth charts. Booked elcs at 39wk but went in to labour the day before my booking, over 20hrs labour then cs. 10lb 15oz, scar rupture and heavy blood loss but baby healthy and I recovered eventually. They kept telling me a big baby wouldn't increase risks of scar rupture and asked me to go natural several times in the MA unit, so glad I didn't as I'd have ended up in surgery anyway under a general rather than with a spinal.

Induction is still my least favourite so I'd go, no

@Mamabearno1 can I ask how big baby is predicted to be? Sorry if you've said ans I've missed it.

Also very anxious about upcoming 3rd big baby and debating asking for induction! I've had waters broken before and don't remember even noticing, but I was already in active Labour so maybe that makes a difference!
