If you like premier inn and have 3 Dc. What do you do?

Just that really.

We really like premier inn, the comfy beds, no frills and buffet breakfasts but DC has outgrown the travel cot and you can only seem to book a room for 2 Dc plus a cot. :( no feeling a bit sad about short break prospects for next year!

So if you have 3 kids where do you book?

TIA 🙏

@Patbutchersarrow

We stayed in a premier inn last month with 3 dc. Oldest had a bed to herself and the youngest 2 shared a bed me and dh had the double, it was fine but I appreciate that not all premier inn's will allow this, I asked before we booked and not everyone will want to do it.
You and 2 DC in a single? I don't think I'd fit!

Holiday Inn Express. Amazing breakfast too! The interconnecting rooms are great.

Africa2go · 28/08/2021 21:02

The hotel isn't generally insured if you sneak extra children in, I really wouldn't advocate that.

As above, I've often telephoned hotels direct and explained we're a family of 5, they're advertising rooms for 4 but is there a possibility of an extra bed for X yr old? Happy to pay extra for bed / breakfast etc? It's a faff & a bit time consuming but means we're all together.

Otherwise, we book via booking.com or Airbnb for larger rooms / apartments etc.

Muststopeating · 28/08/2021 21:05

We've just had our 3rd so am following with interest.

I'm with you OP., I want to share a bed with DH. He works away a lot so when we're together I want to have a cuddle.

Stupid question but is there an option to book interconnecting rooms when you book. Or do you book 2 rooms and then call to request they are connected.

Also if DC are small is there anyway to lock the door to the hallway so that they can't get out (extremely unlikely Id ever sleep through that as we'd obviously have the connecting door open. But I prefer to know they can't.) Not that I think my kids woild try this after a stern warning but again... better to be safe.

I'm just glad it's OK to admit to liking Premier Inn! I love it- no fuss, nobody trying to ensure I have a lovely 'experience', exactly the same every time. Perfect.

Well, actually not perfect as they don't serve breakfast until 8am on the weekend, which is too late for us (travel for sports) so I miss my hash browns.

TartanJumper · 28/08/2021 21:14

You could always ask them if they will accept a third child. If they are all small children it shouldn't be a huge problem.
Otherwise, as pp said, connecting rooms/two rooms.

MyDcAreMarvel · 28/08/2021 21:27

You have to phone hotel , so you ring hotel ask if any are available if so you book online and ring straight back with your booking reference. I recommend ringing again a few days before you go to confirm.

CloudPop · 28/08/2021 21:29

I've never understood why interconnecting rooms are so hard to find/ book. Surely there is a good market for them? And can be locked from both sides if not being used as interconnecting rooms.

aaaaah · 28/08/2021 21:31
@aaaaah I work full time nights so we feel we spend enough time apart without doing it on holiday as well. I do appreciate your point though
Fair enough, sounds like you get some undisturbed nights as it is so makes sense you'd want to be together

TheCanyon · 28/08/2021 21:33
@TheCanyon to arrange extra beds in the room are you calling around the hotels directly? The websites don't seem to have any useful options.

Any hotel experience involving a puppy sounds like a nightmare anyway!! 🙈
We phoned and asked to be put through to that hotel so direct to Glasgow george St and Kingston were brilliant. Straight yes. Holiday Inn said a straight up no.

episcomama · 28/08/2021 21:35

How old are your kids? Could the oldest two have one room, and your youngest share with you and your husband?

Bigboysmademedoit · 28/08/2021 21:40

4 kids - 2 boys, 2 girls - love Premier Inns and we make it part of the holiday with a ‘girls room’ and a ‘boys room’. It’s become a tradition Smile

Oh that's a bit sad to sleep apart from DH
Its bloody fab! Pick the best behaved kid and off you go.
coffeecup88 · 28/08/2021 21:51

@Ionlydomassiveones

We snook them in and took an air bed. We even did it when we booked 2 rooms. We all still stayed in one.
DH had suggested an air bed..

@episcomama 9,6,4 too little to be on their own.

Have been squeezing DC3 into a travel cot bless her she's finally outgrown it

We have four kids, we do two rooms, tend to go holiday inn instead, not managed to get interconnecting rooms though. We sometimes bring my parents (or better yet sometimes they treat us) and they have two kids. Same price as us getting two rooms usually.

coffeecup88 · 28/08/2021 21:56

@2reefsin30knots bloody love premier inn and centre parcs too for that matter, how unfashionable of me 😳😂

Why do you prefer holiday inn? Not tried there..

I'm afraid with three children two rooms is the future. Cost a bloody fortune. One adult with the boys and one with the girls. Best get used to it

Fairyfalls · 28/08/2021 22:41

We've always sneaked in a third child tbh

2reefsin30knots · 28/08/2021 22:41

@coffeecup88 Ha! I love Centre Parcs too. I'm just not keen on either a surprise or a fuss.

BonnyBarb · 29/08/2021 06:35

Op if you use booking.com it does come up in the summary which of the hotels can offer you 1 room for all of you. Annoyingly I've not found a way to filter the results so they only show those so you do have to run through the list and look for it but I often do.

cultkid · 29/08/2021 06:38

I know we are wondering this too

Could you call them and see if you could bring an aerobed?
