Family of 5 in a Premier Inn?

We've always squeezed in fine as DS was in a travel cot but obviously with covid it's been a long time since we've gone anywhere and there's no way he will go in a cot now!

Has anyone taken a blow up or made a nest bed and stayed in a room as a 5?

Not the same but we tried using one of those ready beds on the floor when on a cruise early last year with a 2.5 year old and it was a total disaster! She ended up in the double bed with us for the whole 2 weeks...... so based n my experience, I wouldn’t do it! Grin

Also Premier Inns have very little free floor space once you add two children on the put up beds, so a third would probably be pushing it (even if they weren’t a nightmare on the ready bed Wine)

I was asking my mum about this the other week. Basically at what age did me and my brother have our own room in hotels.

She said that before we did they had 2 rooms and mum was in with me and dad in with my brother. It was usually just for the odd overnight but made lots of sense as soon as she said it

Ilovemaisie · 13/04/2021 12:54

How small are the kids? Could you get all 3 in the double bed? Unless of course they would spend the whole night winding each other up !

Ilovemaisie · 13/04/2021 12:54

I meant by getting the room that has two double beds..

QuentinWinters · 13/04/2021 12:55

They won't let you do it because of occupancy rules.
We had to get 2 rooms and an adult in each :(

Elouera · 13/04/2021 12:56

Have you asked if they have inter-connecting rooms and just get 2 rooms? There isnt that much floor space in the ones I've stayed in.

notimagain · 13/04/2021 12:57

If you plan to do this you need to be a bit canny....I know Prem Inn can be very good but I have no idea if some places might turn a blind eye and lose count, some might not.

"The maximum room occupancy is two adults. Family rooms (where available) can accommodate two adults and two children (under the age of 16). You must not exceed the maximum occupancy for the room allocated to you. We reserve the right to conduct checks on occupancy. "

You have to book the right sized room for the occupancy. What if there was a fire and they only think there were 4 of you in that room and leave your kid behind!

murbblurb · 13/04/2021 12:59

Sneaking in extra people for free is called theft. I know MN is not high on morals.

Thepilotlightsgoneout · 13/04/2021 13:01

Two rooms with an adult in each is the expensive but right answer.

Ilovemaisie · 13/04/2021 13:19

Would the over occupancy rule count though if it was two kids in a double, 2 adults in the other double and baby in a travel cot? Just a genuine thought? Not trying to scam Premier Inn but just curious.

CroydianSlip · 13/04/2021 15:36

Hahaha I don't think my morals are in question here! We travelled extensively prior to covid and always had 5 in a room with the blessing of Premier Inn - they put their own travel cot up with the 2 single beds and a double.

We unfortunately have to book accom for a funeral and dh will be involved in all sorts of family duty stuff in the eves and I don't want to be in a position of leaving any child unsupervised in a hotel room for eg. He will have to stay with family and I'll be in the hotel with the dc in that case.

Premier Inn allow 3 children in a room until the youngest is 3 as they will put a travel cot in the room for you. We did this until my youngest was 3 and since then have either had a girls room with myself and my daughter and a boys room with my husband and my sons, or if the hotel has them we’ve had two interconnecting rooms.

LovableRogueMummy · 05/10/2021 18:40

My youngest DS has just turned 2 so we are experiencing these problems for the first time.
OP we have booked into forest holidays and (depending on age of your ds) they count infant as under 3 so we are just bringing inflatable floor travel bed for him.

I have created a FB group for this exact sort of problem and more if anyone is on there. Search for ‘families of 5 (England’. It’s the brand new group.

blackteaplease · 05/10/2021 18:42

We get two rooms and have an adult in each room

Roselilly36 · 05/10/2021 18:51

It’s cramped in a PI room, x2 adults x2 kids, can’t imagine what it would be like with x3 kids. I would rather book a self catering holiday cottage.

Weedsorwishes · 16/10/2021 17:39

We prefer to go self catering but if we have to go in a hotel we get 2 rooms. Family of 6
