Is there such a thing as a 'panic' third baby?

Both of my sister in laws have had third babies in the past year. They are both late thirties and already had 2 children each, a boy and a girl between the ages of 5 and 12. I think everyone thought they were 'done' so to speak so we were all a bit surprised at their announcements. I'm slightly younger and I already feel I'm finished with having children, I'm now worried I will get the urge In a few years to have another baby, how common is it to feel like you need to have another baby before it's too late? Is it normal to get broody for a last baby as you approach your forties?

I did thought i was done till i felt my biological clock ticking and realised it soon wouldnt be my choice.

I thought I was done after 2. Couldn't bear the thought of doing it again and thought anyone who did was bonkers. Until I met DP and we had a surprise pregnancy and we then had a MMC, from that moment on I was on some crazed mission to hold my 'rainbow' baby. I'm sure the biological clock must have kicked in around the same time.

I think it's quite common. I have a few friends and relatives who had a boy and girl close in age (2-3 years) and then several years later in their late 30s had another. One told me that she just woke up one day and told her husband "I want another baby." And she'd felt her family was complete prior to that.

I felt really broody when my youngest was about to start school.
