Better for career - age gaps?

I know these things can't always be planned, but what is the ideal, from experience?

Either a few years out of work completely for a small age gap e.g. 2 years or keep your toe in the door but babies for longer e.g. age gap 5 years.

It would be great to see if different career types are affected differently too!

I’ve had 4 in 5 years but kept working. I work from home so have a nanny which makes sense both practically and financially. I took 5-7 weeks off with each baby and worked till labour started each time. It’s been great!

@Auntiepatricia that's amazing and sounds ideal! Was it the same job you were doing before you had the little ones?

Leloephants, it was just lucky. With my first baby I was still in London and worked from home, office and at clients but coming and going a lot. Then I moved countries and they let me work fully remotely. I’ve had the same nanny since baby #2 and get to see the kids whenever I want, nip out for appointments or school things, but I do work my hours and deliver my projects so they seem happy with my work.
