Car seat in front passenger seat

Does anyone know of any car seats which can go in the front passenger seat which has no Isofix points? Presumably the car seat would have to have a harness because the car's seatbelt would be needed to attach the car seat to the passenger seat. It'd be for a five year old, going in the front due to two siblings in the back.

Thanks x

Off the top of my head I think most harness seats only go to around 18kg so you’ll either be out of the weight range or very close to it.

With high backed car seats the seatbelt threads through a buckle then across the child. The buckle positions the seatbelt on the child shoulder and ours had side sections to position correctly over hips. We have the seat seatbelted in when not in use and I would avoid using in front with air bag on or I would push the seat as far back as it will go.

For a 5 year old I am guessing your talking about a high backed booster (HBB)?

If so, they don't need isofix; the seatbelt goes around seat and child and holds it all. You should use the seatbelt to restrain the seat when the child isn't in the car too, as otherwise it would become a missile in the event of a crash.

With a HBB, you should leave the passenger air bag on and slide the seat as far back as possible.

If your talking about a rear facing seat, then yes they are he'd to the car with the seat belt and then the harness holds the child. Some rear facing seats go to 25kg.

With a rear facing seat, you need to turn off the passenger air bag and fit the seat either touching the dashboard or not, depending on the instructions for the seat. If you can't turn off the airbag then you can't put a rear facing seat in the front.

So I am looking for a high backed booster seat then. Thanks.

Yes, forward facing.

Anyone know of any specific makes which are good? X

We have a Cybex, a good option is to sign up to Which for a month (£1 - remember to cancel) and look at their reviews.
