Hi guys/gals.
I am new I don't know if this is the correct place to write this or not but here goes the looonnng post.

I am a 27 year old mother of 3 girls 5,4,2. They all have speech problems. My 4 year old is still in nappies because she doesn't understand she also still puts things in her mouth that she shouldn't like car toys ect so the school is thinking she has sensory issues. My 2 year old can't walk due to low muscle tone and is getting a special walker and shoes. I have major anxiety so don't leave the house unless I'm with my partner (kids dad).
The kids constantly fight and don't do as they are told my partner doesn't help at all apart from getting the kids from school, nursery, playgroup. He works mon-thur 5pm till finish usually 10pm
Friday 1pm-finish Sat-sun it varies.
I do absolutely everything else apart from taking the kids to school and picking them up. Iv even got to ask if he has clean uniform because he doesn't put it in the wash unless I ask how many sets he has.
Anyway for the past 3 year we have been in this house we have had our windows smashed and we don't know who it is as we keep ourselves to ourselves . we have high rent arrears so we can't move but the health visitor said that she would speak to the council. My partner was on the sick in may so missed payments for his finance payback for the car so I have that stress too we have no money for Christmas we really are in deep 💩. We got a phone call from social services this morning to come out this afternoon so we said yea fine thinking it was about the housing situation but turned out my eldest had told her teacher I smack her dad now this isn't the case my partner likes to say to our eldest I hit him because he thinks it's funny when she gives me wrong. He will be in the sitting room and I will be in the kitchen and my partner will say mummy just hit daddy and she will come through and give me a telling off. So that has me more stressed. Also when we told the woman about the windows and that our youngest daughters window was borded up for 4 month
July-Nov and I showed her the picture of the glass in her bed just glad She was at my partners mum's that night the social woman said there is nothing they can do. But it's ok for her to say the kids are fine but I had to come out because of what your 5 year old said. I'm like wtf the windows been smashed is a safety issue for the kids and I'm also scared to be in the house at night, I'm not sleeping either. I said we want to move but I don't want to take the kids out of that school. Her reply was they can't help intervening with the council and for me to go to the doctors and pack everything up and move miles away to England.
Is this seriously true that they can't help. Surely windows been broken where there is glass in my kids bed should be a hazard to them like it is to me, I'm wanting to move to get away from this, if she had been in her bed she would of been cut or the rock the size of a rugby ball could of hit her. My neighbour told us this house has always been a targeted house because we're on the end and when it was empty they would break in. tbh I didn't like social woman anyway but yea anything anyone can help with. Oh I'm in Scotland btw but originally from England been here for 7year my partner was born in Scotland.
Sorry for the long post and thank you.

Caulk. The kids are getting All the support they need, speech therapy physiotherapy ect. I haven't been to the doctors as I'm scared about going

I don’t see how you are going to get better, and therefore your family move forward unless you see a doctor/counsellor/therapist.

I’m not saying it isn’t hard, but if you know you’ll be there for another two years then you may as well get help now so you’re in the best place mentally to move in a few years

Harlei · 10/11/2017 21:41

Skyechasemarshalsfunmum. Paw patrol lol my 3 are daft on it too. That bad the snakes are called marshall cos he's red and zoomer cos he's quick lol.
Will look into that I also got dla forms to fill out nobody told us about that either I found that our online. We are in a lower 4 in a block and there was a ramp already here when we moved in so we won't get moved because of her needing a ramp ect.

Caulk I know what your saying I really do
I hate being like this sometimes I think to my self I need a slap lol

Caulk · 10/11/2017 21:45

I think seeing a doctor would be more useful than a slap tbh

dotdotdotmustdash · 10/11/2017 21:51

OP, I think you have to be really brave and face your fears about going out and getting help for yourself and your family. You children need to be getting out and about more to help with their development and you will have to begin some sort of treatment for your anxiety. You have a lot of years of life and parenting ahead of you and it's only when you start to take charge of your life that things will change.

Harlei · 10/11/2017 21:56

I know. The reason I haven't been is if the ss find out then the kids might get took that's what I'm thinking oh look what she's on she ain't fit
Anxiety medication
Sleeping medication
Possibly depression medication too.
Been on and off anti depressants since I was 18. Then whatever else they give me

I would do the dla forms asap your at least 2 of your dds will and should get dla.
Your 2 year old for needing extra help due to low muscle tone.
Your 4 year old with speech delay but associated others delays with toileting ( its actually written in my sons forms when he was two they awarded him it for being in nappies ignoring the rest of the reasons he needed but we did not argue as it was the right level he needed at the time) its now higher for toileting and sleep issue at 6.

Once your children recieve the dla if they get middle rate or above which it sounds like they will you will be entiled to carers allowance £62 a week and more tax credits its about £60-80 extra a week for each child recieving middle or higher rate care so finacially you will be better off.

Battleax · 10/11/2017 22:10

Seeking appropriate medical help for yourself is a GOOD thing. That's how they will see it.

Harlei · 10/11/2017 22:15

I got them today will post them off Monday.
Do you know how long it will take to hear back and if it can it be back dated.

I'm paranoid always have been even in my early teens. But then again I lived in the countryside with 3 houses that's it,no park ect and 3 miles to the village shop(post office) that's probably the cause of my anxiety. That plus being sexually abused by my real dad when I was 2 my mam had split up with him by then but he took me for visits then one day he dropped me off and left and I told my mam he had been well yea.

Your children won't be removed because you are taking anti anxiety or anti depression meds.

Go to the gp and ask for help.

Skyechasemarshalsfanmum · 11/11/2017 00:02

They say within 8 weeks but weve always had the results within the month and yes its all backdated from when you got the forms when awarded.

On the note about anxiety i have anxiety and depression plus been precribed antidepressants and sleeping pills, drs want to help not call social services for a mum whos under a lot of stress and deserves help.

Your doing amazinly well with 3 children with speech delays and more. I can totally relate this my 6 year old has severe autism with very limited speech and 2 year old is awaiting an mri to check is she has some brain damage causing her delays and problems with one side of her body.

RockinHippy · 11/11/2017 00:23

Just a thought. Can you get help filling in the DLA forms ? Is there some sort of children’s disability service where you are, such as AMAZE? If not CAB should be able to help you?

The forms can be difficult to fill in on your own, especially if you are new to this as your answers will earn you points that build up to qualify your DCs for DLA. How the answers are worded can make a difference to how many points you earn.

You can fill in the first part, i think you can do that over the phone & the claim date starts then, at least I know you can for adults as I’ve just done this with my brother. Then you have more time to get help to fill in the rest of the form, without it affecting your claim start date.

Good luck

Thank you, at times a feel like a complete failure. I can't take the kids out and I feel so bad about it but we do take them out the one day a week my partner gets off work.
Sorry to hear that. Hope she is ok

Rockinhippy. The school printed the form off the Internet for us. The health visitor should be able to help with it so will ask her. Thank you

Harlie

Honestly, you are not a complete failure by far, you are doing what sounds like a good job, in a very difficult situation. It also sounds like you’ve been badly let down by those meant to help you as you are clearly struggling financially & otherwise & nobody has told you that you can claim these benefits. Our GP told me to claim for my daughter. My brothers GP suggested he look into claiming. You also have health visitor etc, so somebody should have informed you that you can claim. Then of course your LA could do a lot better too.

I was very ill when my DD was small too, I couldn’t get out often at all & my DH worked all hours. She’s 15 now & it really hasn’t harmed her at all. Your DCs will be okay. I would also suggest looking into claiming for yourself, it sounds like you might actually qualify for DLA/PIP too, if so, you should be able to get some respite by way of Nursery hours for your younger DCs

Good luck xx

Catlovingmama · 11/11/2017 20:01

Contact a family may be good people to ring - they can advise on getting help for dc with Sen eg applying for respite Care and getting tje EHCP form done

Harlei · 12/11/2017 10:35

Will do everything that has been suggested. I'm actually looking into moving completely to a new council. The one I'm with isn't helping at all in regards to the windows being smashed which to me is a safety issue for my kids. According to ss it's not. I'm not sleeping because of that either I'm basically dozing during the night, every noise and I'm up checking every window. We shouldn't have to live like this regardless if we have rent arrears or not. What makes it worse is that we had only been in the house a month when the first window was smashed with an ice ball. We have had no runins ect and the neighbour told us that's why the last tenants moved and the ones before her.

mareemallory · 12/11/2017 10:56

Might be worth getting in touch with one of your local councillors about the housing issues. They may know of another route to getting you rehoused and/or could put a bit of pressure on the relevant council officers to look at the windows being smashed as an ongoing problem rather than a series of unrelated incidents (which may be how they are currently being interpreted). It is not right that your children are living in physical danger like this regardless of the rent arrears.

Harlei · 30/12/2017 15:58

So I have had no more contact from ss since I posted this.
Does that mean that that's it no more contact or will they be building a case or going to court or what.
I'm still a bit worried not knowing what's happening.
Thank you
