Packed lunch instead of school dinners! Mind would cost £40 a week. I'm sure I could buy it for less esp. when they only have baked potatoes or plain pasta!

Agree with packed lunches. It's by far cheaper than school dinners.
We try and get our shopping for 100 per week. One in nappies. Family of 6. We shop in a mixture of places mainly aldi for staples and waitrose or local butcher for meat and fresh items. This works really well for us. We use Costco for large items like washing powder etc, worth getti g a membership if you don't have one birthdays cakes are massive and about £12. Cakes, bread and meat all great quality and buying in bulk saves loads.

We have one meal a week out of a tin (kids love this) such as soup, beans on toast. This is quite a big saving on meals for one evening. I find own brand stuff just as good as branded often especially cereals we get through loads but are fine eating shops own.
Buy school uniforms when sainsburys do 25 per cent off. I hand down most items except cardis as they seem to fade loads.
For school shoes fine uour local clarks outlet. I get school shoes in there for around 20 rather than 35 per pair. Sports direct for all trainers.
Start Xmas shopping early. I've done most now. Elc havr 3 for 2 at the moment. Argos do 3 for 2 in Oct half term. Make the most of these deals saves loads.
Try not to buy things like cars on credit with lage payments try to save and buy a car outright amd spend money servicing and looking after it properly and it shpuld last a good many years.
In fact don't buy on credit at all, the interest alone is money down the drain.
