I have 4 kids, one dd and then 3 ds. Just wonderin those of u who had no sis did u feel like u missed out? My daughter seems to get on fine with her bros, they are 7 down to 2yrs. Haven't def decided we're finished though but wouldn't care if i had boy or girl

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I had one younger brother (only 15 months younger) v close to him as in a way I never had to share his toys or clothes Grin - it'll be fine, she doesn't know any different (as I don't) what do you think a sister will give her that her brothers can't?

lexxity · 16/03/2011 13:02

My sister an I don't get on at all well. Does that help?

Buda · 16/03/2011 13:04

Well I have 3 sisters. My Mum had none. She used to moan she would have loved a sister and I said she could have mine!

The 2 of mine who are closest in age do not get on at all and spend the whole time bitching about the other!

I have 3 brothers, when I was little I used to pretend my best mate was my sister...

I cant say I have missed anything not having a sister and to be perfectly honest I have never even thought of it...

Interesting

I know its about not having sisters but I would love to come in on this.

I have FIVE BROTHERS and one sister. I tend to find that I phone and keep in touch with my sister more than my brothers and my mum.

I have three boys and one daughter, she tend to feel left out of things. Do girls get closer to their mothers when they have no sisters?

my daughter would love a sister, but we have finished now.

what do you think?

Rilith · 18/03/2011 14:50

I wasnt very close to my my mum Mum2Bless TBH our relationship has been very tough at times. But then me and my mum are like chalk & cheese... so so soooo very different to eachother

threecurrantbuns · 18/03/2011 20:36

Im thinking similar but the opposite. Ok, that doesnt really make sense lol.

I have 3 first two dds, really close! And ds just about to turn a year so hard to know if he will feel a bit left on the sidelines. I often wonder if we were to have another and ended up having a boy would it be nice for him to have a brother. Or if we have another and we have another girl will ds end up completely outnumbered.

Saying that though i think dd1 could end up being a bit of a tomboy so maybe dd2 could end up left out!

slipperandpjsmum · 20/03/2011 22:06

I have 3 ds and 1 dd and she does ask if she can have a sister but I have lots of friends who are not very close to their sisters and value their friendships more.

Some siblings are close as adults and some aren't.

I was always closer to my younger brother than sister and still am now although we don't speak or see each other very often I know if I needed him he would be there in a heart beat.

Reading with interest. I have one dd and 2ds with another ds on the way Grin.

DD says she would have liked a sister but I think it has worked out for the best as she will be 8 by the time DS3 arrives. This seems like a large age gap and I was concerned as to how this work.

DD gets to keep her bedroom to herself and remains the only granddaughter on both my side and Dh's side.

I only have one brother but have a large extended family to whom I am very close and grew up with my youngest aunt more like and older sister and we remain very close, so don't feel like I have missed out.

I read that people with sisters have better mental health.

I'm using that line on DP atm Wink

mygirllollipop · 31/03/2011 20:36

I always wanted a sister but never got one and had to accept my lot!

It might not have been as rosy as I was imagining.

Northernrose · 12/04/2011 22:17

I'm only being nosy on this thread (and I know the OP was a month ago!) as expecting only dc2 but would love more if possible in the future. Am the youngest of 4 and the only girl and I LOVED having three big brothers, they all looked out for me and still do, and vice-versa, and I actually never wanted a sister! I was a tomboy so that's probably partly why I loved it so much!! Since having sisters-in-law I have realised that having sisters would be great too, but honestly have to say I never once thought I missed out on anything, and think they rather like/liked having a wee sis too! Wink I don't think your daughter will miss out on anything Smile
