What's it like having 5 DC?

Is having 5 DC much harder than 4? I thought our family was complete - but we've just found out we're expecting no 5 (all being well - history of early mc and being a bit old...)
DS is 4 years younger than the other DC - and so it's been relatively easy with him - such a good baby and all.
Think it's just going to get really hard work again for a bit (with DS being 2.5 when the latest DC is due to arrive next year)...
I guess it will become a little easier after a coupld of years but life is relatively relaxed just now - and that's all going to change again! (kids are 18,8,6&2)
ls 5 way harder than 4? Or much the same?
Also if you have 5dc and a car - what car do you have?

5 isn't harder than 4, especially if one of your children is an adult. The older children do not need as much of your time, can help out, and the baby knows his place.

Looking at the ages of your children, your older 3 will be at school, and so you will just have a toddler and a baby - easy peasy complared to what you have already been through.

We have a 7-seater car, but we are very rarely in it all at the same time.

Congratulations on your pregnancy

Thank you!
We have a 7 seater, but front air bag cannot be switched off and middle seat only has a lap belt. We'll need either a better 7 seater or maybe even an 8 seater as we all travel together at weekends to get out!
We live in a 3 bed terrace with loft coversion giving 2 extra rooms, so someone will have to share!
18y old is a big help, but also on autistic spectrum so still needing a lot of parenting too.
I'm still feeling thrilled at this suprise, and hoping so much the pregnancy continues.

Congrats Lets have another one! Do you mind me asking when you say 'being a bit older' how old? I ask as I am in my early 40s with 4 DC, always thinking of just one more, so this thread is of interest to me!!

I'm 39 - so actually really suprised to be pregnant - I've always taken a LONG time to conceive - and even had fertility treatment for DC4 (clomid). We only did it without contraception once - it just turned out it was the right day I guess!
I don't think dh intended for us to have another - I think we both thought it was most unlikely to happen anyway - so weren't too concerned about that one occasion.

slipperandpjsmum - I had an aquaintance who had a 2nd child at 42 - conceived straight away - anounced the pregnancy at 5 weeks - and had a smooth and uneventful pregancy and birth - so I don't think you should worry too much about age uless you have issues with fertility.

For me - I definately had problems with fertility - I knew it was me and not dh - but drs just kept telling me to keep trying only when I saw a female dr - after 2y of trying did I get referred to fertility clinic for DC4!
