Last year, there was a thread which discussed anti-semitic bullying in schools and people having to withdraw their children. This is the reality in many places in the US, and I also left my job in academia due to anti-semitic threats and graffiti in my office.
I have spoken to some investors since then, and there is now a plan in place to develop an online curriculum for students from Year 7 up to A-Level. In this preliminary stage, it would be great to hear what you'd look for in such a program.
Some things we're trying to achieve:
- Currently, we're examining a route to offer both synchronous and asynchronous learning, and actively facilitate local cooperatives to help working families.
- The curriculum will be British, but investment is from US partners, so it will be licensed in the US too with specific support to submit homeschooling requirements.
- All teachers will have a degree in the area of study, and relevant work experience, with the goal of providing practical, in-depth education that allows gifted and talented students to thrive.
- The hope will be to eventually make the program work via need-blind admissions.
Please feel free to tell me it's a terrible idea too - all feedback is welcome.
I've never done this before, my background is in Foreign Policy, not strictly education or administration. Maybe we'll fail, but I think it's worth a shot, because it's clear that this increased anti-semitism isn't going away any time soon.
