Not a thread for politics , haters or conflict discussion .
This is a thread for Jewish MNers to share concerns about family / friends in Israel and information and to offer support to each other .
I’ll start - I have a daughter in Tel Aviv and am v worried

No family in Israel but thinking of those of you who do.

lisalisa · 13/04/2024 22:57

Thank you Helene . I don’t know if you’re Jewish or if you pray / believe but there’s worldwide tehilim at 11pm

I'm incredibly worried for my family and my husband's family. They've all been struggling for six months already, and now this. I'm feeling quite numb tonight

Hélène79 · 13/04/2024 23:08

@lisalisa I am Jewish but not religious I'm afraid (I used to be on this board a lot under a different name). I hope your daughter is OK.

@Humdingerydoo Sending strength to you x

My DD and DGC are in a town to the north of TA.
DD has been quite blasé. She's off to sleep in the safe room and the Iron Dome will hopefully do it's job.

My friend in Jerusalem is piqued because the Iriyah are out emptying rubbish, so between the constant planes overhead and the bin men outside she's not able to sleep.

Meanwhile I'm nowhere near sleep and am anxiously scrolling.

It's easier to be there, than to be here not knowing and worrying.

DifferentNameForThisBoard · 13/04/2024 23:36

Thank you for starting this thread - it’s a very scary time.

I too have a lot of close family in Israel. Just been speaking to DM who is on her own, and feeling pretty anxious.

@lisalisa @Humdingerydoo @Towerofsong thinking of all of you too.

Thankfully we were not impacted by the rockets from Iran in my town but the situation was extremely tense overnight. Hundred of drones, cruise and ballistic missiles were fired at Israel from Iran and if it were not for the UK, USA, Jordan and Saudis the situation would have been a lot worse.

There is a lot of debris and shrapnel from rockets around which could still pose a problem.

The only serious injury was to a 10 year old Druze child in the south.

I don't understand why when Moslems consider the Al Asqa mosque of such importance that the Iranians would risk firing at Jerusalem and damaging such a holy place.

lisalisa · 14/04/2024 16:29

did they fire at the mosque ?
also didn’t know the Saudis helped ?

Rockets and miles were fired towards Jerusalem which is where the mosque is even if it m y not have been intented as an actual target.

Saudis today confirmed that they helped Israel and the allied countries

I just wanted to make the point that the war is not with Iran but with the Islamic regime.

A large majority of Iranians are secular and they are not Arabs, speak Farsi, not Arabic and their origins are Persian (their roots can be traced back to Cyrus the Great). Their original religion was Zoroastrianism (also practiced by Freddie Mercury).

Many, many young Iranians hate the regime and everything it stands for. Young women are forced by the "morality police" to wear the hijab and many have died in custody.

At pro-Israel rallies you will see many Iranians protesting in solidarity with Israelis and Jews, holding up the original Iranian flag (pre-Islamic Revolution) which features the lion and sun as opposed to the Islamic "tulip" design. There are very many brave Iranians who have put their lives on the line to protest and offer solidarity at such rallies, with Iranians such as Niyak Ghorbani, Mahyar Tousi and Vahid Beheshti protesting and documenting events (sometimes alone) against often aggressive marchers on the anti-Israel marches and Niyak has been arrested several times by the police.

They are a very brave and noble people and Jews and Israelis should have full solidarity with them in their quest for freedom.

All the comments about the IRI being restrained - ummmm have you seen the size of the fragments from the ballistic missiles???! I thought the first pics I got of the remains found in the Dead Sea were AI/faked but that is Daniel Hagari now with the 'shrapnel'. How is shooting 120 of these restrained???

The booms of the interceptions were the loudest I have ever heard by a long way and it couldn't have even been that near to me because the siren didn't go off in our area, so the shrapnel wasn't overhead.

I'm glad I didn't see that on Motzai Shabbat 😱

i only randomly came across Mahyar Tousi when i was on youtube the other day. I couldn't believe it, he was showing a video of what he says was a beach in Gaza with people clearly hanging out/having a nice time. I know the haters will automatically say it is fake/he is a puppet for the US etc but is it genuinely real? (i am jewish btw so not being goady). I think Mahyar is fab. I have the rage the way jewish people seem to be public enemy number one who are doing fuck all as far as i can see when it comes to being agressive towards muslims. Mahyar's short film the other day of him at a anti Israel rally was interesting. He went all be it briefly over to the Jewish counter rally nearby which was tiny in comparison but they were smiling, singing. A start contrast to all the hate going on in the other section. I would love there to be peace for both the Israelis and the Palestinians. I think they should have their own land and for them to all live side by side in peace. when I lived there years ago, all be it briefly, i had Muslim friends as well. It was great. Non of us seemed to take any notice and culturally we are very similar, breaks my heart tbh

I wonder about those videos too. And the ones of the bustling markets with lots of food. Are they real?
