If you have a cash ISA - why don't you

Swedes · 14/08/2009 07:48

transfer it to a stocks and shares ISA?

Interest rates are likely to remain low for some time, so cash ISAs are a bit erm rubbish. As we emerge from recession, the value of shares is rising fast.

you despicable woman

I never said i felt the need, merely that i wanted to try and help out. And investing is something I had done recently and so something I decided to post in relation to!

Just because you have been on here for 10 years does not give you the right to be rude. I wouldn't take it upon myself to trawl through your posts and try and discredit you.

I hope the other mothers can see through your distasteful and unhelpful comments. I'm sure with your long track record you must have a reputation on this site for being an annoying busy body.

Cyber bullying is something, as a mother, I feel we should be trying to prevent, but here you are making me feel like a second class user of this site!

Whippet · 22/01/2010 18:56

What possible excuse can you try to fabricate for dredging up 13 old 'Investment' threads and posting your website link - huh?

By the way, it's not cyber-bullying it's called user-moderation.

People aren't stupid here anyway, they will easily see through your spamming and 'seeding'.

Welcome to Mumsnet. I think you'll find resorting to name-calling when someone expresses an opinion counter to your own doesn't go down her very well BTW...

Whippet · 22/01/2010 19:00

(Is it just me, or does this sound like a man trying to write like a woman?
"As a mother..")

P.S. I didn't need to waste time 'trawling through' your threads BTW - they all appeared in 'Active Conversations' within minutes of you starting your marketing campaign posting...

hocuspontas · 22/01/2010 19:01

Whoa! Thought I was seeing quadruple there!

Did a search on mumadoo's name and the dialogue with Whippet has been repeated at least 4 times since yesterday!

Hopefully by now you know you should be paying an advertiser's fee.

mumadoo · 22/01/2010 19:05

A counter opinion would involve you suggesting alternate investment advice, to which i would have happily politely debated. NOT accusing me of being both a liar and a fraud.

I did not realise they were old threads as i am new to this site- as I have already stated.

Exactly- perhaps you should respect the other mothers on this site enough to make their own opinion, rather than invoking your personal vetting service on their behalf.

Thank you for making me feel so welcome to this site... I thought this was a site where I would meet people with the same sort of opinion and discuss issues with me. I didn't realise it was a closed shop whereby veteran users could bully new users for their opinions and threads. I feel very disappointed...

Whippet · 22/01/2010 19:12

OK MN Jury ... what do you think?

A brand new poster feels the need to post the link to a website on 13 (many old) threads all within the 'Investment' topic as his/her first ever post?

No other posts.
No other topics.

What can I say?

(And the line "Methinks the Laydeeeeeeeeee doth protest too much also comes to mind!)

mumadoo · 22/01/2010 19:28

I did not join to create aggravation. I am a single mum who thought this was somewhere I could get adult interaction with people on my level.

I thought I was being helpful to everyone- I'm sorry you see otherwise.

I don't want to partake in your witch hunt as you try to encourage more people to bully me. This whole issue has upset me a great deal and I would appreciate it if you would please leave me alone now

thank you

Whippet · 22/01/2010 19:37

Whoa there lady...(man?)

Er, if there's any bullying going on here, it from you actually..

"perhaps you should spend more time caring for your children"

"you must have a reputation on this site for being an annoying busy body"

"you despicable woman" (what makes you think I'm necessarily a woman?)

At no point did I call you any names! I simply pointed out that it seemed an unusual series of 'first ever' posts to make, and that it made me very suspicious.

Would someone really be so enthusiastic about an investment website that they would join a site and immediately 'spread the word' (13 times, in probably as many minutes)?

mumadoo · 22/01/2010 19:45

I think others will see who has be the bully here

I just hope you don't victimize other new users of the site as aggressively as you have me and mumsnet continues to be a place mothers and other parents can find refuge

Whippet · 22/01/2010 19:51

No bullying going on (from me anyway...) Just highlighting to others on the site that there was a sudden rush of activity and repetition in the promotion posting of the website link...

Come and join in some of the other sections of the site - I'm sure there are lots of Topics which would be of help & interest to you...

mumadoo · 22/01/2010 19:56

well thank you but my first posts have made me so uncomfortable that i am a little hesitant to start partaking in other discussions.

Just as a note please do be more considerate of others feelings when you post, especially those of us who are new and nervous about giving information/ expressing opinions

Ilovemybed · 22/01/2010 20:02

mumadoo - you have been, to use a colloquial phrase:

BUSTED!

pointysaysrelax · 22/01/2010 20:15

I think this is a very good question, swedes, and I am interested in your comments.

My answer is that I know absolutely nothing about stocks and shares, have no one in my family to give advice, I wouldn't feel very comfortable asking a friend to advise and I don't have a financial adviser. Our savings are minimal and so I like to know I can access them in case of an emergency.

As you said, these are also reasons why stocks and shares are likely to remain the preserve of the wealthy.

pointysaysrelax · 22/01/2010 20:19

I am now lolling. You say how it is rubbish that they require a high lvel of expertise and then you and someguy start shooting the breeze, obviously in the know about what a good plan of action looks like which leaves the rest of us utterly bamboozled.

So back we retreat into our safe holes.

starmucks · 22/01/2010 20:49

Whippet - you are so right. mumadoo reads like a pantomine dame.
