Taking the leap...

So, I have been reading lots and listening to podcasts, soaking up as much as I can around investing. I am just wondering what someone more experienced thinks of my initial plan?

I have decided on a LISA for retirement and I'm going to be brave and go for the S&S version, in the hope it will see more long term growth. I am 34 so time is on my side.

I have went with AJ Bell dodl as it had the lowest fees atm (0.15%). I've deposited £1000 to start and invested £500 of that in an AJ Bell 'adventurous' fund. The fee is 0.33% though which is ?high and maybe unwise to invest more money in long-term? Or maybe a managed fund would yield better returns and is worth the fee?

I have £500 to put elsewhere and wondered would the S&P 500 be best Vs FTSE 100? Fees are 0.03% and 0.06% respectively. I am also considering a global tracker but can't see it as an option. Maybe dodl doesn't offer that and only has a select few for LISA investors?

Thanks for any views.

Hi, Dodl offers a low fee (0.13%) passive global tracker in Themed Investments, Around the World. It’s called On Top of the World (HSBC FTSE All-world index fund Accumulation C).

Very similar position here - can I ask what resources you used to learn more about investing? I need to start but am overwhelmed by the amount of info out there and how complex it all seems

I've just finished the Rebel Finance School set of classes on YouTube. it's really worth a watch - i feel much more informed - and it's free!
