Security when setting up premium bonds

Hello, quick question. I set up a new premium bonds account yesterday and the advisor set it up for me on the phone as my laptop is down.

All was going well and I've only put £25 in with a view to adding more later, until he transferred me to the other chap who set up my password, my PIN number and three security questions with answers. I kept saying this doesn't make sense - surely I should be able to enter these securely, now there is one advisor who knows all of my details.

At some point I'll try to get online and change password and security questions - is that possible?
Am I being paranoid in finding the whole thing suspicious when we are repeatedly told never to give out passwords to anyone on the phone? Obviously on a different context...

Thanks in advance!

Sounds a bit dodgy to me. Are you sure you want PBs?

I find NS&I very secure. I like having premium bonds for the monthly anticipation thrill. I won £125 last month. It gives me a boost.

Does seem weird. Download the blue app and change them all to give you peace of mind

then join us on the pb thread

Thanks everyone, glad I'm not alone in thinking it was odd.

I just can’t imaging a scenario wheee I would have an ‘advisor’ setting up an account for me. Why would you do that, seriously I’d love to know what kind of advisor suggests setting up the whole account for you. What is in it for them, do you pay them by the hour ?

Just log in on your phone through your web browser if your laptop isn’t working.
It’s pretty straightforward.

I think @wherehaveallthegoodfolkgonemeans a pb advisor did it for her as she couldn’t

I have had to reset my pin before over the phone due to a glitch and being locked out and they advised me to change it the next time I logged in

Why couldn't you do it yourself with whatever device you are using to post on here if your laptop was down? Just open a web browser on your device.
