Hi, dh has been offered shares in the company he works for. We claim uc. His parents have offered to loan/give him the money to buy the shares. The shares are offered at a lower rate than they willbe worth if the company is sold.

For UC calculations would you use the value of the shares as in what they're worth if the company is sold or the price that they're bought for please? They will be I dh's name. I've seen that they're counted as capital but haven't seen how to calculate their worth for uc purposes.

I have seen thar any dividends paid don't count but it's unlikely he will get much if anything from them in the next few years.

Can anyone advise us please or offer any other info on anything we should be aware of please?

Just to add we haven't decided if we are buying them as they come with a different role which he doesn't know if he's taking.

Brought for I think.

Good question actually. Bear in mind UC can't cope with anything evenr slightly complicated so you'll probably blow up their computers when you tell them.
