I am losing sleep over this & am not seeing my mortgage advisor until next week so really hope someone can help put my mind at ease!
I'm looking to buy with my partner. He already has a long term rental property which has been on a 'permission to let' basis.
He lives with me in my property.
I have 1 year left on my fixed term mortgage deal, and planned to 'permission to let' for 1 year, then figure out if I will sell or remortgage etc. rather than paying early repayment fees for the sake of a year (this would be approx 3k)
The problem I've now come across is because the property isn't rented yet it's coming up as we can't afford it. Surely it's not uncommon for someone who plans to rent their property out, but not have done it yet as they are still living in it? What way round is there please? Already additional property stamp duty so keen to avoid more expensive fees on changing the mortgage to BTL.
I can't sleep on thinking we May not be able to get the mortgage on the new property!
