Damien talks money has a fairly recent video on Youtube about this where he compares a few. I think fidelity came out well.

They are tiny children and you have no idea how fiscally responsible they will be. Both myself and my sister were given 1k at 16, this was worth a lot more back then. She partied hers away and mine was added to savings I already had.

They can have control at 16 but cannot withdraw till 18.

Consider this aspect.

I like the Nutmeg ones we have, but add very minimally for points raised by @ViciousCurrentBun. They'll maybe have 5k each at 18.

I was impressed with the way they manage my LISA, I like the app, the fees are reasonable.

I'd go with Vanguard. Fidelity is free but a smaller platform.

Do you plan to save a certain amount every month, or just a lump sum every year / whenever you can?

Interactive Investors and AjBell are good brokers. They are execution only, no advice. So they hold the investments for you, but you must decide what investments to buy.

I'd recommend familiarising yourself with the concept of ETFs (exchange traded funds) - they are low cost funds, traded like stocks. ETFs tracking global stock indices, like the MSCI World, are often recommended in these cases. You can find them on a website like justetf.com

If it all sounds too overwhelming, you can use something like Nutmeg, which lets you choose from a very limited range of predefined options. You'd basically end up doing the same thing, but at a higher cost

Thanks @ParentOfOne ,

it would be a Lump Sum that would be going into the Isa and holding till our daughter is 18.

I’ve looked at ETFs for my own investment but for this would just like something that I could set up and check once a year. But obviously to get the best growth and return.

I don't follow. ETFs can be exactly that, what makes you think otherwise?

Many ETFs are something you can buy and hold for years and don't need to check on.

I have a Wealthify JISA for ds. Obviously do your own research - but when I signed up it had great reviews, low fees and good choice of funds (including ethical) https://www.mumsnet.com/reviews/wealthify-junior-isa

It’s very easy to manage via a phone app
my referral code is https://invest.wealthify.com/refer/91615567
if you sign up using it we both get £50

Invest £250 and get £50 cashback!

Wealthify - Make your money work as hard as you do.

This was for a lump sum, right?
I see on their website Wealthify charges about 0.76% per year
If you buy ETFs with Aj Bell or Interactive Investor, you can pay 0.12% -- 0.20% to the ETF provider and from zero (if you already have other accounts) to £30-40 per year to the broker (ie to Interactive Investor or Aj Bell)

I have a Fidelity S&S Junior ISA for DD. She's 2. I appreciate it's a risk that she'll come into money at 18 but I'm planning to reiterate that the money is only for uni/house deposit and hope she doesn't think to realise that she can do what she wishes with it!

I like the Fidelity platform. The app is good, it's easy to use and I've been happy with it so far.
