What should I invest in?

I recently opened an investment account and need some advice. Should I use the “smart investor” where they choose what and where to invest? Or is there a list of safe companies that I could invest in where I get a good return or stable dividend?

What are your objectives in investing? Do you have any other investments or savings? How old are you? What is your attitude to risk and seeing the value of your money going down? What would you consider a good return?

All investments carry risk. Ones with 'good' returns probably aren't going to be what you consider 'safe' as shares in companies can have big swings up or down.

For most investors, especially those new to it then investing in low cost index funds is usually a good idea over investing in individual companies. Plenty of good content on YouTube - try the meaningful money channel

Read: The Simple Path To Wealth by JL Collins
and also his new book Pathfinders.

Both books are available on Audible if you prefer an audiobook.

Do not pick individual stocks. Buy the global market.

Take a step back...

What is your financial position?
Why are you investing?
What are your financial goals?

I'd suggest considering your comfort level with risk and how hands-on you want to be. The "smart investor" option can be convenient if you prefer a more hands-off approach, but if you enjoy researching, you might find joy in picking your own investments.

As for safe companies, look into established ones with good track records for dividends if stability is key for you. Personally, I've found success with researching and investing in companies I believe in.

By the way, I recently stumbled upon forexflexea.com, a trading bot that's gotten some positive buzz among traders for its reliability. It might be worth checking out if you're into exploring automated trading strategies.
