I’m looking for an ‘explain like I’m 5’ book about financial literacy. Can anyone recommend?

Any particular aspects?

The Meaningful Money Handbook covers budgeting, insurance, paying off debt, starting to invest using pensions and Stocks & Shares ISA.

There are many books, so knowing what topic specifically would help.

Thank you that book looks great. I specifically hope to learn about investments and retirement savings.

Another investing book I like is from the United States, but it is the principles that apply, even if the funds and tax wrappers differ. The Simple Path To Wealth by JL Collins.

There are also lots of YouTube videos and Podcasts available.

Damien Talks Money
Money To The Masses
James Shack
Meaningful Money

For example, here is a video from Damien Talks Money about pensions:
And one from Meaningful Money about the basics of pensions:

The One Thing You Need To Do Financially In 2023.

The gap between what we need in pensions and what we have is set to hit 400trillion by 2050! That is 4 times larger than the global economy at the moment..Th...

The Money Saving Expert website is brilliant and they also have an extensive forum where you can ask questions.

IlliterateFinancially · 13/06/2023 20:59

Thank you, I had no idea money saving expert had so much useful information! I thought it was just a boring message board.

And do you watch his program in ITV? There was one tonight and you should be able to see previous ones on ITVX.

I just signed up to that last night. No tv but the website is incredibly useful. I had a fun evening looking for holes to plug in my NI contribution history!

I totally get where you're coming from. When I started, "The Richest Man in Babylon" by George S. Clason was a game-changer. It breaks down financial concepts in a super relatable way. Give it a shot; it's like a friendly chat about money! And books were not the only source of information for me. Governance Consulting also helped me a lot to gain a better understanding of how processes work. Good luck!
