When do I need to pay tax on my investment?

Hi

I invested 100k in a Vanguard fund in April 2021.
So far it has increased by about 8k.

I'm not planning on removing any funds for years but do I need to pay tax yearly or only when it is 'cashed in'?

And I declare this via self assessment?

Thanks

Is any of it held in any kind of tax wrapper, ie ISA, pension or investment bond?

Capital gain (rather than divs)- you only pay when you realise the gain. But Nb you have an annual allowance so it makes sense to realise some gain each year, if you’re not already using that. There are rules about how you can do this if you wish to repurchase shares- have a look at www.investmentguide.co.uk/capital-gains-tax-30-day-rule/?amp

Would suggest this is one for an accountant perhaps.

Not in any wrapper.

Dividends I need to declare on the self assessment?

Yes, I think I may need an accountant to start with.

Yes, you need to declare dividends annually if they are more thank £2k.
