Hello

So I opened up a Life strategy thing & have £150 going into each month. Do I have to do anything else?

I set up a vanguard ISA and picked my fund, I assumed that after that any money I put in would end up in the fund I picked for the first lump sum, but it didn’t, it just sat in cash until I moved it. To be fair it was me being daft and not reading it properly but you might want to check that you money is actually being invested.

that's what i'm confused about it. It's showing as eg £300 in cash. How do I actually invest it?

You login to your account and click on the ‘invest now’ button. Then choose the fund you want invest in and the amount you want to invest. Then follow the on screen instructions

It tells me I have zero cash though?

Right I think because it's same day. I will try tmw. Thanks for the responses

Cash transfers in take a day to be available to invest, been caught myself by that before

Wheretoeattweenandteen · 24/08/2021 17:16

What fund did you choose op?
I've got a life strategy.

bananamushy · 24/08/2021 22:12

Oh & once the money cleared it automatically added it into the ISA. Thanks for the responses everyone.

Hi I'm looking at vanguard for an ISA as well. Can I ask what made you choose vanguard? My DCs CTFs are with them and have done well as far as I can tell.

I haven't got a clue what I'm doing. I chose vanguard for the DCs a few years ago based on a newspaper article saying they were very low cost.

But now I want to start my own ISA but don't know whether I should go with vanguard or somewhere else.

There are literally hundreds of companies and different funds to invest in, I keep doing a bit of research, get overwhelmed with info and give up!

Any insight would be very welcome!

bananamushy · 02/09/2021 17:56

Read about them on here & in other articles. The ease of the life strategy fund appealed, that was it really.

Can we do vanguard if not a uk resident

GreenLunchBox · 17/10/2021 00:12

I'm with them because of their low fees

GreenLunchBox · 17/10/2021 00:12

@Yerra

Can we do vanguard if not a uk resident
I should think so....theyre American!
nannynick · 17/10/2021 21:54

You cannot do an ISA if you are not a UK resident. Vanguard provides an investment platform in the UK, they also have one in the US. They may have them in other countries. Vanguard funds are separate to the investment platform, so you may be able to buy their funds in whatever country you are resident.

Yerra · 17/10/2021 22:05

Thanks for info

Trethew · 01/11/2021 23:07

What end of year tax info do Vanguard provide? Do they detail capital gains and dividends received?

antshouse · 07/11/2021 19:27

Trethew, have looked on my account and dividends are listed on my account cash transactions.
Looked on the help section which states 'if you invest in a general account with us you will receive an annual tax statement and summary of the distributions on your investments.' Hope that helps.
I haven't had any tax statements as I only have an Isa.

Trethew · 08/11/2021 13:00

Thanks
