Best place to save

I have a relatively small savings pot and I have a small term opportunity to add approx 3k per month into that pot.

Where is the best place to save? I've seen premium bonds mentioned a lot but also seen the chance of winning has recently been lowered?

I'm generally risk adverse but wouldn't mind putting 5k into something riskier.

Really appreciate the advice on how best to manage the 40k savings pot and the 3k I can then add every month.

Thanks

Anyone? I've never been in a position to save like this with no real need to spend it. Usually I save for 12 months for a big trip for example but these savings can sit quite nicely for a long time

I'd suggest posting on MoneySavingExpert.com for advice. But give them some more details than you've included in this post - how long will you have the £3k per month coming in? How long do you want the money tied up / when do you need to access it? Are you paying into a pension already? Do you have a mortgage? If so, how big is it and how much interest are you paying?

You can get 10.5% at the moment on a sterling crypto derivative.

Its basically a savings account denominated in TGBP (a crypto stablecoin that tracks the movement of sterling, so is designed to continually be worth £1).

It has a range of risks: its cryptocurrency, cryptocurrency is risky, and interest rates can fluctuate, but if you are willing to take higher risk with some of the pot, you might want to consider it for a small proportion of the money.

Have you used up your stocks and shares ISA allowance for this year? If not I'd start with that and look at some of the platforms like Vanguard. There you can try out various combinations of stocks and bonds and take a few risks. Personally I'd not touch crypto currency with a barge pole unless you really don't mind never seeing your money again.

Very boring I know, but do you have a pension? That would be a very use of the money too.

Worth looking out for Pete Mathews Meaningful Money podcasts - he's very good on savings.
