Diamond ring insurance

Hey ladies! Hoping I could get some help... I have about 4 diamond rings... 3 of which I wear all the time and one I just received as a 10th wedding anniversary present. The whole value of all the rings are £6500. I got a newest ring a couple of days ago which is the most expensive £3500.

I was thinking of getting insurance on them. Could you help me with any good companies which have been tried or if you have insured your jewellery where to try and if anyone has made any claims has it been a straight forward process

Any help advice would be much appreciated
Thank you

Also like I'm worried that the diamond might fall out. In the last ring I've got it's a cluster ring... so what happens if they do and how do they repair it because that's why I want to take our insurance really incase the diamonds fall out. If anyone's got any experience or knowledge please let me know

Mine are covered under our contents insurance. I have to state the number of rings and value of each when it is above a certain amount. With one company I used I had to send in the valuation and diamond certificates but not had to do that for a few years. We pay extra to insure them outside of the home.

Following in case someone has a better way of insuring or knows this is not good enough.

My ring is shown separately as an item. Just speak to your insurance company. It is very likely that general insurance will make you go to HSamuel (or whoever is high street theses days), if the quality is better than that you need an insurance company that will replace like for like. Use a broker to be sure.

Mine is covered under the house insurance. It is specified and covered both in the home and away from the home, worldwide, under personal possessions cover.
As someone who used to work in home insurance claims, I know that this is more than sufficient with my company. Each company is different though, and you need to read the policy information to see what is and is not covered.

Mine is covered by my house insurance but as a separate item. If I go on holiday it's only covered if I'm wearing it as opposed to leaving it in my unattended home which suits me as I wear mine 24/7.

Same here. It’s under home insurance. I think items over 1k in value were specified individually.

In terms of a cluster ring, you can periodically get it checked to make sure it’s secure. Even if you were to cover the cost of repair for whatever reason, it shouldn’t cost the earth to stick a 1 point diamond in.

Mine is included in house insurance too.

Specified separately and we have supplied photos if each item and kept all the receipts.

About 4?

My 3 platinum rings : engagement, wedding, eternity are covered on the house insurance. Easy!

People should look at the small print on their home insurance. Some companies have agreements with high street jewellers and if they have to replace it, you have to shop there. If that wouldn’t work (regardless of individually named items), check how you’re compony operates.

TH March is a specialist I used who would replace like for like. Do you have GIA certificates / a valuation from the jeweller that specifies the diamond grade? Worth consulting a proper insurance broker to make sure you know explicitly what would happen for theft/damage/loss.

My home insurance covers my 3 platinum and diamond rings. Very good decision!
