Hi there

My husband is has some shares he can sell from April. We don’t need/want to sell them them all but wanted to sell what we can without paying tax for next year.... I am a stay at home mum so think some can be gifted to me perhaps? Thanks in advance

How much did they cost to buy, how long has he held them and how much does he expect to sell them for? That will allow you work out the capital gain. If it is within his capital gains tax allowance then no tax to pay.

Great thank you! Can he gift some to me up to the amount of my tax allowance too or have I misunderstood? x

Yes, gifts between spouses won't attract CGT until the shares are subsequently sold. But keep a record of what/when the gift is made so you have a paper trail to refer to.
