Finding an IFA to assess early retirement plan

I am 47 years old with a 3 year old daughter. I want to stop work at 49 when she starts school (may look for some flexible PT work or do some voluntary work at some stage.) I have a pretty good private pension kicking in at 65 that will cover our living costs comfortably and full state pension at 67 so need to fund 15 year gap. Plan is to sell our house in London and move out to home counties and live off the equity. However I have no idea how to invest the equity. At that age I obviously don't want anything risky buy I'm hoping to get returns above abysmal cash savings rates. How would I find an IFA who can advise on above? Any general tips or advice? Thanks

The Personal Finance Society website has a directory of all its members who are qualified advisers. Search by postcode to find some local to you; search criteria can also be refined by "investment" or "retirement" specialists. Ring round a few - most will offer a free initial meeting so you can meet face to face to find one you like.

^ exactly what Sunseed said. Do not touch St James’s place with a shitty stick - or their associated ‘directors’.
