Second property and stamp duty.

My husband and I currently live in a house that I owned before we got married. We both own another house each which are rented out.

We have recently sold our main residence and the house we were buying has fallen through. We now need to look at renting somewhere (don’t want to lose our purchaser).

The tenancy on my rental house ends next month. If we choose to temporarily move into that house (for a few months) would that then become our primary residence and we would be hit with the additional stamp duty on our eventual new purchase?

Also the house is on a residential mortgage with consent to let.

Any advice would be most welcome!
