300k short term, best interest??

We will have 300k from the sale of our property and will be renting whilst looking for the next home.

We want to split it between 4 financial bodies for best protection amd want to earn as much interest as possible to offset the rent.

We have never been in a position like this before so am asking you wise mumsnetters...

Where would you put it?

Proceeds from house sales have extra protection. Think it's up to a million for either a year or 6 months, do check.

I'm in a similar situation to you. MSE has the lists of highest paying accounts. I put some in premium bonds too, safe and you never know!

Tesco instant access, 1.3% I think. As mentioned short term extra protection is available..

Don't wait as inflation is 5% or more.

Similar situation here - any further tips?

Goldman has just launched its Marcus saving account. I think it currently pays 1.5% (variable and including a temporary bonus). Look it up.

Just set one of their accounts up - it has a 250k limit but I'm really impressed by the account opening process etc.

Just stumbled on this... there are a few savings platforms around now where you can us them and then spread your money across different banks and minimise the risk and take advantage of the FSCS protection. Raisin UK, Flagstone, Insignis are three of them that all have slightly different models and are worth checking out. [Disclaimer I work in the industry, hence my knowledge]

Had a quick look at two of those. Interest rates worse than you can get independently.( So some really bad) and booby traps regarding protection outside the uk. Case study about getting 1.1% return does not bode well.

Tesco 1.36%, others.just up to 1.5% easy access. 2% or a bit more if you fix.
