Hello!
Just wondered if anyone can help me here. Partner and I are starting to save, putting money away towards a deposit on a house for a few years' time after I finish uni. My parents have suggested I consider getting a credit card to build up a good credit rating which will look better when we eventually apply for a mortgage, providing I make sure to pay it back when due. I'd only use it to fill my car, just small payments I can afford.
Anyway, I'm dubious of credit cards and although I have my self control, I've never wanted for a credit card as I hate how they get people in terrible debt and would like to avoid getting one, especially as I don't need one and as awful as it sounds, I don't have much faith Partner having a credit card lol, he might get a bit frivolous with one...
Are there any other ways to build up a good credit rating in the next few years? I pay a monthly phone contract, not sure if that makes a difference?
