Anyone suggest how to find one? We have a bit to invest (a few thousand), and so far the people we have contacted haven't come back to us! Maybe its not enough money for them to bother with!

I just want some advise on what to do wtih it to get the best return, but can't seem to find anyone?

hi - do you have mortgage, a pension - either of those could be a good place to put a few thousand eg over payment or lump sum into pension
or other debts

do you have emergency savings - about 3 months salery is a good idea

We do have a mortgage, but want to keep some cash available - that we can access without having to increase the mortgage - and pension wise the point for us is to be able to access it in the future if necessary.

if you need access say within 5 years then I imagine a high interest savings account is your opiton -

Think about the timescale and liquidity you want. The risk is important too - but harder to quantify.

There is a pay off - more risk = more reward or loss

Don't pay crazy fees (packaged products/funds often pay high fees) or trail commission. Time base fees are often better.

Depending on how much you want to invest, a stockbroker might be right for you.

You can get lots of advice for free. Frankly if you can read, spend a few hours reading up - it could save you thousands.

Even go and see 2 or 3 banks as well as IFAs. They will pressure you to sign up ( you don't have to), but you get free 'advice' (sales pitch!)

The way you invest (Pension, Sipp, ISA, offshore etc) can help with your returns. Have you used your ISA allowance this year?

Spread the risk. Don't rush into anything and good luck!
