Nutrition plan for losing weight for fertility

Reaching out to see if anyone else had the same situation and has any advice.
42 year old here, weight 72kg/158 pounds with 2 unsuccessful IVF cycles. Only had 1 and 2 embryos on each of the cycles so will need to do egg collection again.
Unexplained fertility and consultant advised to take a few months and get healthier and see a nutritionist.
Feeling deflated that the consultant doesn’t have any further guidance as I’m slightly overweight but not obese.
Do you have any advice? Have you been there and what did you do to improve your chances? Any recommendations or recommendations of specialist nutritionist in London would be welcomed.

I think it's a mistake to take a big break at 42, especially as you don't seem to be the obese category. Focus on leafy greens and lean protein and cut alcohol, simple carbs and sugar. CoQ10 200mg three times a day, omega 3 and your partner on a conception supplement. You can do this in tandem with further cycles. Also consider changing clinics.

Thanks @sirensong. Also feeling nervous about a pause so we’ve decided to change and try Lister clinic for another round. Both of us already don’t drink alcohol (only a glass on very special occasions) and only have decaf, and are on the supplements you suggested so I guess the carbs and sugar will need to be next, and exercise!

I agree that I really don't think it is anything to do with your weight. I followed the egg quality diet and had good IVF results (embryo wise, no baby yet sadly but still early on in our journey). I was at a higher weight than you and I am well aware it was mainly luck that I responded well to the meds (we are also unexplained) and that it can vary wildly from one month to the next. It sounds like you are doing all the right things already! Good luck!!!! ❤️

Hi! As usual, it depends. For example, vitamin D can affect fertility, so if you're deficient, it may help to include more vitamin D-rich foods (or supplements if your doctor recommends them).
In general, I find the Chinese medicine approach to fertility nutrition interesting, so it might be worth looking into their dietary recommendations.
I've also noticed that MyIVFAnswers has recorded webinars with dietitians about fertility nutrition. I haven't watched those particular sessions, so I can't say what they cover, but they could be worth checking out.
