Worried about natural FET after late ovulation

(TW: SIBLING)

Just looking for any experiences, reading, advice or reassurance.

We have had ICSI for male factor - I was 36 when we did our retrieval 2 + years ago, now 38. We are very lucky to have our daughter (untested 5AA) from our fresh transfer. We have 3 embryos (untested, 4AB, 4BA, 4BA) and are wanting to tell for a sibling.

The clinic advised a completely natural cycle but I pushed for luteal support and they've agreed to cyclogest.

I had a scan on CD 11 and my lining was 5.5mm, dominant follicle was 14mm. I went home quite deflated.

I have now finally got my LH surge on day 18 and they have booked me in for transfer on CD 24.

My cycles generally last 26-28 days so this feels REALLY close to when I would normally bleed and I just feel really worried that it's too late and I've ovulated too late. I just don't want to pop an embryo in and then have my period two days later.

My husband says they wouldn't do it if they didn't think it could work as it would ruin their stats, and they have booked me in for a pre ET scan on the morning of the transfer.

But I was wondering:

  • will the embryo have enough time to implant in just a couple of days?
  • will my progesterone have time to get to the right level?
  • should I just trust them and go with it even though I'm worried I'm wasting an embryo?
  • does anyone have any positive outcomes from late ovulation natural or modified natural FETs?

Literally any thoughts, even if it's just taking me to cancel, welcome as I'm spiralling.

What has your clinic said? I had a modified natural cycle for my angel baby, I had no medication leading up to ovulation but was monitored every second day from cd 8 and I think i vaguely remember having my peak around cd 16 so triggered and had my fet on cd 23 and that was successful.

Have they been monitoring u for ovulation through blood tests and more than one scan? Or are they just relying on the results of your at home LH test? x

They thought it should be ok? Be they've literally done a scan on CD11 and just relied on OPK at home - nothing else. I've actually decided to cancel as it doesn't feel right and the amount of relief I feel having done that lets me know it's the right decision. Going to try again modified in a couple of cycles.

I'm so sorry for your angel baby - thank you so much for sharing your experience with me xxx

Oh wow i just assumed they were monitoring with bloods and scans. If only relying on opks then I think its a good idea to cancel, opks are an exact science and cant tell you whether or not you have actually ovulated only if your receiving a peak. Next time id ask to be monitored with scans and bloods to be sure.
