ARGC or Lister for low AmH/poor responder - any recommendations?

I am 39, almost 40 and have struggled with fertility issues for years. I have a son (almost 3) who I mercifully conceived naturally but having a second child has not yet happened for us. I oscillate between trying to let this go (which I’ve found impossible) and convincing myself that yet more IVF, or treatment with a different clinic might be worth exploring.

I still have two rounds of IVF to go with my current clinic (I’m in Bristol) but am wondering if I should at least explore one round with the Lister clinic or ARGC.

I could be just desperate but I’m not 100% convinced my clinic is exploring everything we can. I am a poor responder to IVF and feel we could be exploring more options - eg growth hormone. I know there are no guarantees but I know other clinics use it and some people on here have reported successes with it. My clinic’s approach seems to be that there is not enough evidence to warrant it and it becomes expensive - but I am already tens of thousands of pounds into this and need to know I’ve tried everything that could help!

Am I just chasing something I can’t have? No idea. Possibly. But if anyone who has low AmH/DOR, was a poor responder and/or was around my age and has any experience of either clinic - or has experience of either clinic without those specific issues, I would love to hear it.

Hey @Hazzakay as per the other thread I am with ARGC and have been super impressed with them and their approach. They are the clinic with the most lateral thinking and do not leave any stone unturned. I do acknowledge some people don't need this level of intervention but some definitely do. There's a thread I am on about Lister/ARGC/CRGH if you want to take a look.
From another poster's experience on the above mentioned thread I would not say the Lister would be a clinic I would consider. Another lady on that thread said King's use HGH if asked but I found their approach was not very tailored.

Thanks @TheFanciestPants - I have found and read that other thread which has been really helpful. Thanks for replying. Lots to think about…!

how are you getting on? Where are you in your treatment?

Yeah ok. I was gutted my 3 excellent embryos were aneuploid. But, I am going again for duo stim at ARGC in July and will keep my fingers crossed. Am doing the HGH priming this time so maybe that will help too?!

Hazzakay · 17/06/2026 21:36

Ahhh, am sorry to hear this. Three embryos seems like a good batch to me! Keeping everything crossed for you for July. Let me know how you get on xx

I would recommend doing a low stim/natural cycle with ARGC. We just completed our 7th IVF round (4th with ARGC) and I'm now pregnant with twins! I had very low AMH (1.2) and low AFC. I only produced 3 eggs but they all fertilised and 2 successfully implanted. ARGC are great at getting the most eggs and nuturing embryos in their lab. They're not great at explaining the reasoning behind their decisions and expect you to just go along with it, so you need to be comfortable with that.

Thanks @ButterscotchBabe thats really helpful to hear - and massive congratulations on your twins! How old are you (if you don’t mind me asking)? And how many weeks?

@Hazzakay thank you 🥰, I'm almost 35 and 7 weeks pregnant

I had an egg collection at the Lister and 3 transfers before moving to CRGH. CRGH are more thorough than the Lister so I wouldn’t recommend when you’re spending loads and there are better options out there!

Wishing you all the best for an uneventful pregnancy @ButterscotchBabe. Congratulations again.

thank you @NiftyAmberLion - that’s helpful
