NHS or private micro tese?

My husband has non-obstructive azoospermia. We have had both NHS and private appointments. We were told by the NHS they will tell us as soon as the micro tese procedure is done whether they found any sperm or not. Privately we were told they will look for sperm in the samples collected for up to 12 hours.

I know we are lucky to be offered a micro tese on the NHS. But do we stand a better chance going privately for this as they will look for the sperm for longer? Does anyone have any experience or advice about this? Thanks!

A lot of private consultants still work with the NHS or were trained within the NHS. The private advantage is usually speed and more discussion time.

It sounds like a slightly different process rather than a different service if that makes sense.
in the NHS the scientist is likely in the theatre looking at samples taken down the microscope live.
For the private service it sounds to me as if the biopsies are taken then sent to the lab to be reviewed, so it can take until the next day that you would be told if sperm had been found, rather than the scientists looking for longer.
The chance of finding sperm is the same. From my experience as a scientist working in this area you may wait a long time for the NHS surgery.
hope this helps
