Uterine septum removal and success stories?

Hey,

After nearly 4 years TTC and 7 miscarriages today I finally had a hysteroscopy which revealed I had a uterine septum. My uterus shape has been known from the start and that’s a whole other story about being missed

Anyway, I found the hysteroscopy really quite uncomfortable, very crampy but bearable. Then he started to remove the septum and ive never felt pain like it. I’d been told to take ibuprofen 1 hour before but that didn’t touch the sides. They finally gave me gas and air but then the doctor stopped when he’d removed around 70% of it. So I’m feeling hopeful finally for an answer but disappointed it isn’t all gone. He’s requested the rest of the removal to be done under GA. Was this amount of pain normal? I can’t quite believe they didn’t think it would be painful? Feel like I’ve let myself down not being able to get it all done today and have to wait longer again now. I asked for him to continue with the gas and air but he chose not to

Finally any success stories after having a uterine septum removed after several losses would be lovely to hear

thank you xx

Hello, I'm really sorry to hear about your losses and about your experience. I don't have experience of this myself but I do think you've been let down here. When I had an MVA, which is a simpler procedure, I was given strong painkillers beforehand (not ibuprofen) as well as gas and air and I was offered other painkillers too as it was still painful. Therefore for this procedure you had, to assume you would only need ibuprofen and wouldn't be in much pain feels neglectful to me. Of course you would experience considerable pain. You haven't let yourself down, you have been let down. You should have been better prepared so it was less painful and distressing. I'm sorry this has been your experience, it is really positive that you are getting this treated now and fingers crossed this is your answer xx

Hi @Sofie1994 thank you so much for your kind words. I’m sorry you’ve had a
painful experience too. I did think how blasé they were maybe I was a bit of an anomaly. But the more I’ve looked into it, seems the norm is some form of sedation or GA. Thank you so much, I’m hoping so too 🤞🏻xx
